Cha-cha-changes: 1

I tell all my couples that marriage will change you. Not having been married I couldn’t KNOW that for sure, but I know the power of ritual promises and what happens when promises are witnessed. I also have had 20 years of marrying folk who say to me, “Geez, Ann, something indefinable is different.” Or “the commitment is different, who would have thought?”

So I just waited eagerly, knowing that something would come along. The first change was to the community. Right away it was clear something magical had happened and this group of 300 was connected to us and to one another in a new way. So that’s good, eh? That would have been enough!

10 minutes after the wedding was over people were calling me wanting to know when the reunion was going to be. They are determined to stay a community. And after the party, I have to tell you, I would not want to call those 300 people and say we were ending the relationship. They took the promises we made seriously and they are serious about the promises they made to us to support our connection. You’ll be amazed at what a great celebration can do for you and your relationship.

And you know what — your love deserves nothing less!

Believing in you and your love,
Ann
